Israeli Ambassador Daniel Taub was very successful building economic relations with the United Kingdom. He served in this role for four years during which time the amount of trade between his country and the UK doubled in volume. He served until the summer of 2015 during which time he resigned from his position and returned to Israel.
Beyond trade, the efforts of Ambassador Daniel Taub also led to other strengthening ties between the two countries such as those involving cultural and academic links.
Regarding trade, in particular, Sajid Javid who is the British Secretary of State For Business, Innovation and Skills said that under Taub the trade volume had reached what he called a “golden era” between the two nations. The amount of trade was increased to anywhere between $5.5 billion and $7 billion in annual volume.
Daniel Taub is from the United Kingdom. During the course of his career as an Israeli ambassador, he once traveled to Northern Ireland along with his Palestinian counterpart. Daniel Taub is a graduate of the University College in Oxford. He also earned a degree at the University College in London. He traveled to the United States and attended the Kennedy School of Government – Harvard University. He then moved to Israel where he joined the Israel Defense Forces.
During his time in the military, Taub served as a combat medic. He also served in the international law division as a reserve officer. Over the course of his professional career, Taub has developed into an expert in international law. He is well versed in the laws of war, including those in counter-terrorism. He has been very involved in the peace effort between Israel and the Palestinians.
He’s been a negotiator in several of these efforts to find a negotiated peace. He has also served in the negotiation for peace between Syria and Israel.
Nowadays, Daniel Taub serves at the Yad Hanadiv Foundation. He is the Director of Strategy of Planning where he lends his years of diplomatic, political, and negotiating experience.
